Our weekend went like this.

Had a really great weekend. Started it off meeting up with a good friend at Starbucks for a little venting & chatting about the future. I really like being on the same page as someone, not wondering if they really understand me or not.. I have never been one to really need friends, it's not as snobby as it sounds. I just never felt like I had to be booked Friday to Sunday or have 20 besties like omg. I have a small handful of good friends, a couple other people I'm really close to but I wouldn't exactly consider a friend and then a bunch of acquaintances and I feel real lucky & happy with that.

TN and I went to the Aquarium on Saturday, then lunched at Cheesecake and made our way home to relax. I didn't take very many pictures at all at the Aquarium, just wasn't honestly in the mood and it's kind of a pain to shoot thru the tanks. So I snapped a few and just enjoyed my time with my honey.

On Sunday we took Granny out for her birthday, chatted with them for a while at the house, ran a few errands and then settled onto the couch for a few movies. Paranormal Activity 3 was pretty good.

 pretty cute, isn't he/she?

Filling in the Blanks.. Traveling.

1.   My favorite place I’ve ever traveled to is  Blue Ridge, GA.. hell I liked it so much, I moved there.

2.  Montana is somewhere I'd love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by listening to music, chatting, stopping to take pictures.

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are my camera, my droid and  great weather! (what? driving in torrential rain at 70+ sucks)

5.  My favorite travel companion is  well, I haven't traveled too far with Tennessee yet but I am looking forward to it! :]

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling  is ..I can't really think of anything wild besides the time I went to NC with my mom & stepdad and our car almost slid off the side of a snowy ravine..and on that same trip, a horse almost did the same thing with me on it, I also busted my ass on the walkway up the cabin. Snow and I weren't seeing eye to eye on that trip I guess?

7.  The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is  ..I haven't really traveled anywhere exotic enough to eat anything exotic? But I have had PLENTY of wonderful treats on vacation.

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I'd live in Montana, Colorado, Tennessee, Maine, Vermont, New Mexico..  I love everywhere (almost) but this silly state of FL.

9.  I have been to  20 states in the U.S.

The Zoo, pt 1.

We decided on splitting this weekend up pretty evenly. On Saturday, we finally got around to taking the Christmas tree down and at least compiling all the decorations to one area, then we did some house cleaning, lounged around, watched a movie or two, ran a couple of errands, sorted some things to be donated.

Sunday we decided to go to the ZOO, we I got up at a bright & early 7:45AM, got ready, fed the pooch and walked her, Tennessee then decided to roll out of bed and shortly after we were off! Stopped off at Dunkin on the way for a raspberry coffee and toasted breakfast sandwich fix. We got there around 9:45 or so I was kinda shocked to see how many people were there already, on a Sunday..  at 9:45...  we joked (sorta) that it was an Atheist convention. Haha.

Anyhow, we snapped quite a few pictures so I'll share a few now & a few later..

Handwritten.

Found this idea over here. Thought it was pretty cool so I followed suit..   gotta say, we are well taken care of by technology, I would not be interested in handwriting everything I do, not.. at all.

Here's how it goes:

Write down the following, snap a picture, scan it, whatever.. and post it.

1. Name & blog name
2. Right handed, left handed or both
3. Favorite letters to write
4. Least favorite letters to write
5. Write 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.'
6. Write the following words in all caps.
CRAB HUMOR KALEIDOSCOPE PAJAMAS GAZILLION
7. Favorite song lyrics
8. A special note or drawing

 phone camera..  sorrrrrry.

Aimless, Sorta.

That's what we were on Sunday, sorta. We met some family for lunch and then made a pit stop at home before running back out to do a couple of local errands which turned into a 2 hour (almost) drive away from home. Mostly because I can drive with nowhere to go for 3 or 4 hours in any direction and be completely content.. and I hadn't done it in a while. Of course, where we reside now, you have to drive damn near that far to get out into the "country", or any land untouched.

Tennessee is not a huge fan of random drives or long drives for any reason but he humored me and kept himself occupied for most of it which was good for me because he normally zonks out if we have to go further than an hour.

We ended up going down a little memory lane of mine. We drove passed a home my Grandparents use to own out in the wilds..which now, sadly, is now a broken down trash shell of the immaculate, well kept spot it used to be. We also wondered down to a river inlet my Grandpa and I used to fish when I was younger.. the whole area has gone down in quality considerably, including the water at the dock. I was still able to capture a little beauty and reminisce a little internally.

To commemorate our redneck adventure, we got slurpees, corn dogs & donuts for the ride home.. I dig it.

Filling in the Blanks.. Random

1.   The last thing I ate was sausage, egg & cheese on english muffin. I've done well all week so this morning, I ruined it.

2.  The last song I listened to was  A Little More You by Little Big Town (Pandora rotation)

3.  Using the letters in my name I can spell {Sarah} Has, Rash, Ok I give up..   hah.

4.  If I had to dress in one color for the rest of my life I would pick black, everything looks good in black.

5.  If you were to look in my bag right now you'd find 2 makeup bags, keys, my camera, gum, loose change, wallet, lip gloss, thank you notes, medical paperwork, umbrella, zantac, digestive medicine, socks, deodorant, notepad, credit card keeper, aleeve, 2 kinds of body spray, lotion, receipts.. yea, I've got a problem here.

6.  When I finish filling in the blanks I'm going to get back to work, well.. go grab lunch, then get back to work.

7.  My all time favorite song to dance to is  The Romantics - What I Like About You..    I'll cut a rug, maybe.

Birch Box 1/2012.

*These opinions are on my own volition, I am not receiving anything monetarily for my views regarding Birch Box and the items received.

I'm in possession of my 2nd Birch Box and for me, this one was a little better than the last. I received all of the items listed this time (last time was missing a lip gloss), 4 of the 6 items were of useable size and not just one tiny little dab of anything.

What I received:

  • juicy couture signature fragrance
  • miracle skin transformer
  • vmv hypoallergenic eye serum
  • zoya nail polish, color: megan
  • witchcraft granola
  • birch box magnet
Birch Box also included a little one page how-to clarify/detox your life, it was simple little household/make up tips.

 My opinions on the products?

  • juicy couture signature fragrance ~ it's not bad, it's a lot less headache inducing than the last one received but it is packed full of florals like the other though. it is a very adult smell, i can't see a teenager or young twenty something really like this and again, it smells pretty similar to another perfume i cannot readily place. i will actually wear this one occasionally and i'd like to note i put it on around 1:00pm yesterday and had Tennessee take a sniff of my arm around 6:30pm and it was still present. i won't be buying it though.
  • miracle skin transformer ~ total waste in my opinion. coming from someone with skin issues, i was excited to see this in my box, it didn't cover for shit, my cheap l'oreal covered 3x better.. for 36.00 for a jar or tube of this stuff.. bare minerals would be a much better route.
  • vmv hypoallergenic eye serum ~ looking forward to trying this, hoping it's excellent just based on the price of a full size, which is a staggering 80.00..  it is also hypoallergenic which is a plus for folks with sensitive skin, like myself. i have always had dark circles so it would be nice to find a product that really made a difference. the little bottle that came in the box is sizeable. i'm impressed.
  • zoya nail polish, color: megan ~ i get my nails done so i won't be trying this on my fingers but maybe on my toes? lavender is however, not...my....thing.
  • witchcraft granola ~ not a granola lover and it happen to spill open in my box so i decided not to try, smelled good though?
  • birch box magnet ~ yea.

Going to give Birch Box a go at least another month and then I think I will try another of the sample companies.

Filling in the Blanks.. Free Time.

we were standing on top of Lover's Leap

1.   One of my favorite things to do when I have free time is  wander thru a park or otherwise untouched land, seeing what I can find to photograph.

2.   When I have free time I tend to use up quite a bit of it cleaning, especially on the weekends, I like to start off on a really clean note and before I know it, I've put more time than intended into cleaning and other misc. house tasks and all of a sudden I feel rushed for whatever else I have to do the rest of the day..  silly, I know.

3.  If I had an entire day completely to myself I would want to spend it with Tennessee..  we would no doubt grab breakfast somewhere, I'd love to stumble across some untouched land to explore for photography sake, drive a little thru the country..laugh and smiling the whole way, eat some frozen yogurt and end up at home cuddled up with TN and my puppy..    the first part of that makes me miss GA..a lot..  (ragged sigh)..   thankfully, we can pretty much pull that off and have quite a few weekends.

4.  I would prefer to spend my free time (alone or with others...)  I genuinely love both..as stated previously, spending time alone cleaning the house, singing to the top of my lungs usually, is one of my ways to decompress..  I do like like running errands alone too..  but my real free time is slated for Tennessee..  some of our best moments are born from those times.

5.  Most of my free time happens on the weekend.

6.  The best thing about free time is  not having to be aware of actual time..   no alarms, no lunch break, just whatever you want, whenever you want it, really.

7.  The next time I have free time I should probably  get in a little more house organization, put christmas decorations away but instead, I'll probably see answer #3...hopefully.

Stand In.

It's dropped into the 30's & 20's here in FL the last couple of nights and I have been eating it up..  drinking hot chocolate, kicking the heat on (only to walk out on the balcony after getting overheated, hah), this morning scraping the ice off my windshield, wearing long sleeves & jackets, you name it..

Of course it's never long lasting and even though I was scraping ice this morning it's already warmed up to about 65 and is projected to stay warm through the weekend.

This morning I took advantage of some of the cold moments.

My 2011 Moments.

This post is a little late due to my laptop deciding to get sassy over the weekend.. but I decided to think back on 2011, as most of us have or will..  and highlight some of the best moments in my life last year. It's no lie that last year was kind of a hectic one for me, ushering in & out some big changes..  I am so glad and thankful to be exactly where I am right now..

Moments:

One of the single best moments of last year and maybe ever was meeting Tennessee for the first time. I won’t give you the back-story because you would be here for days and I would be a little embarrassed but what I will say is I got the chance to get pretty close to TN without ever actually being in his presence and our bond was threatened several times (don’t get the wrong idea) by a number of situations but on one very late July night, I VERY unexpectedly got to meet him. He and I threw every last bit of caution and common sense to the wind that night and it’s something I will never forget..  it was the most nervous, excited, curious, unbelievable moment I have had in a long time.

This one may sound a little weird but..  the drive home after my divorce hearing. The reason this is, is because it stood for so many things. Obviously the most noticeable thing being divorce as I finally broke free from something that I let hold me down for years and that was liberating  by itself. The real shining moment was that I did it all on my own.. preparing my own legal paperwork, filing, the court appearance, adhering to all the requirements and even getting a nod on my due diligence from the Judge.. I felt so accomplished and successful in that moment.. And those that followed.

The weekend I spent in TN with Tennessee (haha) after my gallbladder surgery..  after months of literal random agony I was finally 100% comfortable and could eat & sleep without the fear of an attack.. and eat we did, that weekend I ate fried chicken & chocolate cake at a raunchy buffet and loved every damn second of it.. I think I even napped when we got home and that was even better.

I didn't just happen to start appreciating the little things..  I did just start to appreciate more of them, a lot more of the time.

Happy, Happy, Happy New Year.
